As a mother of 4, I know all too well about children being nervous when their moms get sick. Yet, nothing prepared me for the day my husband and I had to sit down with our children and share with them that I was just diagnosed with Stage 2 Invasive Lobular Carcinoma (a type of breast cancer). Due to being stationed overseas with the military, we not only had to navigate the disease, but a language barrier and a medical system we were not familiar with. It was a scary situation for us all. To this day, telling my kids I was sick was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. I pray that you never find yourself in the same situation. But if you do, I pray that this book offers some kind of support for you and your family.
This story takes the reader through many ways they may see their moms fall ill. Validating unfamiliar feelings and gently guiding children through ways that they can be of great help in uncertain times can help make things a lot less scary.
Following the story, there are pages that list fun ways that young children can help an ailing mom and gives the reader a space to write down some of their own ideas. As stated on the cover, this book talks about journaling as an option for healing and contains journaling pages at the back of the book.
